More news from the Swedish Counter-Strike scene today when Team ENERIC announced they would be disbanding immediately. This means they will not be taking part in the EPS Nordic qualifier next month.
The reason for their decision to disband seems to be the tried and tested "lack of time" that has done for a few teams down the years. This was confirmed by one of the players in a report with HLTV.org.Christian "floreNz" Shahan simply said:
However, despite time being a factor the former Alchemists player has said he will continue to play and will likely be looking for another team sooner rather than later. He wasn't able to answer any questions about what his other team-mates would be doing when questioned.
It's been a long time coming but the third season of the EPS is just around the corner now. Featuring all the old faces from last season, as well as a few new ones.
Thanks to the fact UK CS:S is about as stable as Dr. Gonzo's heart hardly any of the teams that took part in, and won last seasons EPS are still around. Team Dignitas have still to find a team to occupy the slot they now have in the third season, whilst Crack Clan - last seasons winners - are now operating under the Power Gaming moniker. Since last season the Imperial have picked up an all Danish side, so what they do to fill the spot remains to be seen.
The team pool has increased from 12 to 16 and some new faces have been introduced to the premier league in UK eSports. The Good Looking Gamers are one of those teams, having punched well above their weight at various LAN events in the past year they now have the chance to do it on a regular basis, and must be one of the favourites to make it into the LAN playoffs. It will also be a good experience for some of the lesser known teams that were granted promotion, a chance to play against the big teams week in week out will only help them improve.

After Infused picked up a new team just before the i38 LAN many thought it was a good move and a solid lineup.
Things didn't work out quite so well as the team disbanded shortly after their disappointing 9-12th finish, with one of them choosing to fly back half way around the world to escape the embarrassment.. It's taken the organisation a few months before they picked up a new side but today that team has been announced.
It will come as a shock to many as there are some unfamiliar faces in the team, playing alongside some of the most well known faces in UK CS:S. Luke 'KritikaL' Green sees a return to action in the side as he's joined by former fm! Toxic teammate Zak "ZT" Thresher. Two former 1.6 players will also be joining the team, Matt "ZEOX" Goode has already played at a few source tournaments and is highly rated by his counterparts, the other former 1.6 player is Alex "eLm" Campbell who has played for c4u alongside KritikaL.
Completing the team will be none other than David 'hendo' Henderson, who captained team Scotland in the recent Nations Cup, it will be the players first major team so the pressure is on to perform at the same standard as the rest of them.

This two day online tournament finished yesterday with EG winning after some unneeded controversy, but I won’t talk about that here as it didn’t have much effect on the stats. So, let’s see who the heroes were.
The top team was without a doubt Evil Geniuses, who, on their road to victory played 14 maps, winning 12 and losing 2 (both on de_dust2, which might give us an indication where we won’t be seeing them much in IEM). They also had an impressive 70% rounds won during the event, probably enough to guarantee 1st place for anyone in any competition. At 2nd place stats start to take a different shape from the official final placing, as we now have H2k, who also lost only 2 maps during the entire event, both in the semi-finals vs EG, and both extremely close – one in overtime, and one 14-16. 3rd place again matches the respective cheque-winners as it is Playzone with an 8-5 record overall, but out of all those defeats, the biggest one was 12-16, meaning they always put up a good fight, even when they were losing. Which leads us to who is 4th (and why) – cbteam. They played great most of the time and had only 3 losses, but all of them were very convincing (only 17 rounds won in those 3 matches), including the final vs EG, which is why the stats didn’t look too kind on them.

Leading the January rankings are Power Gaming, who have knocked the inactive fnatic side from their throne. Right behind them is the renewed Team Dignitas line-up, followed by the Swedes sides of H2k and fnatic, seperated by just a two point difference.
At the places nine and ten, ESL Pro Series champions SPEEDLINK have surpassed German rivals mTw. YoYoTech enters the rankings at number six as one of the two new team's in this months ranking.

The Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC), who since recently have restarted under new management, have announced the release of their full website, including a post about the distribution of the $ 213,500 prize purse. Peugeot, already annouced as sponsor a while back, is now also part of their sponsors list which also includes some other suprising names such as French radio station Virgin Radio, Music TV station MCM, online payment service & consultancy firm All-Pass and the popular video website Dailymotion. What these partnerships contain remains to be seen and there is still a lot of scepticism revolving around the new ESWC owners and their authenticity as global event managers.
